The 20 Percent Edition Nr. 28: The Future of The 20 Percent

Hello friends, and welcome to this special edition of The (New!) 20 Percent.

If you were getting your weekly inspiration from this newsletter, you might have noticed the inactivity for the past 12 weeks. Today, I wanted to share with you what was in the works during the last three months and my plans for the future of this publication.

The Last Three Months

Back in February 2021, when I started The 20 Percent, I decided to try out Substack. People (many with significantly larger audiences than mine) talked about it, and it promised to make running my email publication easy and enjoyable. I took it on that promise, but it turned out to be a mistake for a few different reasons, including:

  1. After six months, I had published almost 30 pieces of content but in a different place than my main business website. That meant that The 20 Percent was disconnected from the rest of my content and brand in general.
  2. Despite passing the 6-month mark, the Substack site was not gaining any visibility on Google, even for long-tail marketing keywords.

Deciding to move the publication from Substack to WordPress wasn’t a small undertaking.

If you are interested in learning more about how I did it (or moving away from Substack yourself), I documented my experience in this article. There are very few resources on this subject, and despite the short period, it’s already on page 1 of Google for the related searches, which is pretty satisfying.

Unwillingly, I made myself an authority on moving away from Substack.

My Plans for the Future

Starting today, The 20 Percent is back every week. The publication now lives on Studio for Digital Growth’s website, and you can read the entire archive of past editions there.

I already have some incredible ideas planned for future editions that I am excited to share with you. Until then, and for those of you who are new to this publication, here are some of my favorite ideas from previous editions:

At any point, feel free to tell me what inspired your interest in The 20 Percent. Replying directly to this email is the best way to reach me.

Stay inspired,
Konstantinos
